Margo Cilker releases new album ‘Little White Cross’
Folk artist Margo Cilker has released her third LP, ‘Little White Cross’, recorded in Texas alongside producer Bruce Robison. The album consists of ten tracks, including six covers and four original songs, exploring themes of heartbreak, loneliness, and social tragedy.
The record features a mix of musical styles, ranging from the acoustic and piano-driven title track—a cover of Christy Hays—to the Southern Gothic tones of Sera Cahoone’s ‘Ladybug’. Cilker also offers an inspired rendition of Tom Petty’s ‘Walls’ and an interpretation of Ian Tyson’s ‘Road to Las Cruces’.
Among the original compositions is ‘Molly and Me’, a song written from the perspective of a friend to the sister of a mass shooter. The track is noted for its stark, documentary-like lyrics and emotional weight. In contrast, the original song ‘State Line’ provides a more upbeat moment with classic rock guitar riffs.
