Mari Pereira leaves ESPN to join Grupo Globo

Sports journalist Mari Pereira has officially ended her five-season tenure with ESPN to join Grupo Globo. Pereira, 37, expressed her gratitude on social media, describing her time at the Disney-owned network as a defining chapter in her professional life.

During her time at ESPN, which began in 2020, Pereira transitioned from operational roles to on-camera work, including tactical analysis and hosting live programs. In January 2024, she made history as the first woman to serve as a commentator on the traditional program ‘Linha de Passe’. Her final appearance with the network took place on September 14 during a Premier League match between Leeds United and Newcastle.
