Maria Alm church bells resume ringing after lightning damage
The church bells of the parish church in Maria Alm, located in the Pinzgau region, have resumed ringing as of Friday, September 4, 2026. The bells had been silent since mid-August after a lightning strike destroyed the control electronics in the church tower.
Priest Franz Auer confirmed that repairs were completed on the afternoon of Thursday, September 3. Although the restoration process took longer than initially anticipated due to the involvement of insurance, specialists have successfully restored functionality. The bells have returned to their regular schedule, beginning at 6:00 AM.
