Maria Andersson wins court case against Swedish Social Insurance Agency
Maria Andersson has won a legal battle in the Administrative Court against the Swedish Social Insurance Agency (Försäkringskassan) regarding a repayment claim exceeding 1.1 million SEK.
The agency had demanded the funds, arguing that Andersson, who has cerebral palsy, had received excessive personal assistance compensation over a ten-year period. The dispute originated from a brief part-time employment in 2014. The agency contended that the employment constituted “significantly changed circumstances” and that she should have reported the cessation of work, which they believed impacted her eligibility for assistance hours.
Andersson appealed the decision, maintaining that her need for assistance remained unchanged before, during, and after the brief period of employment. The Administrative Court ruled in her favor, overturning the agency's decision. Andersson expressed significant relief following the verdict, noting the immense stress and frustration caused by the long-standing dispute.
