Maria Cândida launches menopause documentary series

Journalist Maria Cândida has premiered a new six-episode documentary series titled ‘Menopausa Sem Fronteiras’ (Menopause Without Borders) on her YouTube channel. The project, produced by Indira Films and directed by Lucas Mendes, explores the biological and cultural transitions of menopause through travels to Mexico, Peru, and Colombia.

Drawing on over 300 interviews and her background in gerontology, Cândida examines the diverse experiences of women facing hormonal changes, including symptoms such as hot flashes and mental fog. The series aims to break social taboos surrounding the transition, noting that the World Health Organization estimates 1.2 billion women will be experiencing menopause by 2030.

Avon is sponsoring the documentary as part of its strategic shift toward becoming a ‘Femtech’ brand. In conjunction with the series, Avon has launched the ‘Avon Renew MenoPro’ skincare line, which includes products specifically designed to address skin changes, dryness, and discomfort associated with the climacteric and menopause stages.
