Amazonas elections: candidates and alliances shift for second round

As the second round of elections approaches in Amazonas, political alliances and electoral procedures are taking center stage. The Tribunal Regional Eleitoral do Amazonas (TRE-AM) clarified that voters who did not participate in the first round are still eligible to vote in the second round on October 25, provided their voter registration is regular. Those who missed the first round must still follow procedures to justify their absence to avoid future penalties.

In the race for the Amazonas governorship, Maria do Carmo (PL) is strengthening her campaign through national support from the Liberal Party (PL), including figures like Flávio Bolsonaro and Michelle Bolsonaro. She has proposed a management-focused administration prioritizing health, education, and public security. Senator Flávio Bolsonaro has also endorsed her, calling for a unified right-wing vote.

Conversely, Senator Omar Aziz (PSD) is gaining momentum as various political leaders migrate to his camp. This includes the reelection of state deputy Mário César Filho, Vice-Governor Serafim Corrêa, and several municipal mayors who previously supported Roberto Cidade. Meanwhile, political friction remains, as Renan Santos criticized writer Augusto Cury for shifting his stance to support Flávio Bolsonaro.
