Maria Izabel Pereira Rodrigues, founder of Grupo Dom Bosco, dies at 95
Maria Izabel Pereira Rodrigues, the founder of Grupo Educacional Dom Bosco, has died at the age of 95 in Maranhão. A prominent figure in the state's educational history, she co-founded Colégio Dom Bosco in 1958, which eventually expanded into a major educational group including UNDB.
In a memoir published in 2020 titled ‘Tenho pra mim’, Rodrigues included a text called ‘A Flor’, in which she requested that former students send her a flower upon her passing as a symbol of the memories and joy shared during her teaching career.
Her wake is scheduled to take place at the UNDB Renascença campus in São Luís. She is survived by two daughters, both of whom are educators: Elizabeth Rodrigues, President of the Board of Directors of Grupo Dom Bosco, and Ceres Murad, Rector of UNDB.
