Maria Kanellis discusses WWE Divas era and potential wrestling return

Former WWE Superstar Maria Kanellis has addressed misconceptions regarding the WWE Divas era, stating that female performers were actively advocating for better opportunities, longer matches, and more meaningful storylines. In a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, Kanellis clarified that despite the era's reputation for prioritizing appearance and entertainment segments, the performers cared deeply about wrestling and sought to be taken seriously.

Kanellis noted that women frequently pushed back against segments like bikini competitions and described certain matches as dangerous due to conditions, such as water-based matches that caused slips and injuries.

Regarding her own career, Kanellis revealed she has not ruled out a return to in-ring competition seven years after her last match. While she is not considering a full-time wrestling schedule, she expressed interest in participating in one-off events, such as the WWE Women’s Royal Rumble or an Evolution pay-per-view.
