Kanellis described the tumor as a pheochromocytoma, a rare condition she characterized as a ‘one-in-a-million tumor’ that often goes undetected. She noted that the condition significantly impacted her health and well-being, affecting her heart, blood pressure, hormones, and personality. She described the experience as a ‘really dark time’ that influenced her professional drive and physical appearance.
