Maria Karystianou criticizes Antonis Samaras over maritime zones

Maria Karystianou, president of ‘Elpida gia ti Dimokratia’, has issued a sharp critique of former Prime Minister Antonis Samaras regarding his administration's handling of maritime boundaries and Exclusive Economic Zones (EEZ).

In a social media statement, Karystianou argued that Samaras had the opportunity to establish maritime zones, specifically the Greece–Cyprus EEZ, and to extend territorial waters to 12 nautical miles in the Mediterranean. She claimed that had these actions been taken during his premiership, the current disputes surrounding the Turkey–Libya memorandum would not exist. Karystianou characterized the current political opposition's criticisms of the government as hypocritical, noting that they committed similar omissions while in power.
