Maria Karystianou demands transparency in Greek political polling

Maria Karystianou, representing the Justice Sector of the ‘Hope for Democracy’ movement, has issued a public complaint regarding the transparency of political opinion polls in Greece. The movement is calling for the National Council for Radio and Television (ESR) to intervene and impose sanctions on polling companies and media outlets that fail to comply with legal disclosure requirements.

The demands specifically target the polling firm GPO and media outlets such as Proto Thema and iefimerida. Karystianou is requesting that polling companies disclose the identity of the client who commissioned and funded each survey, as well as the shareholding structure of the companies conducting the research. This is intended to allow for the scrutiny of potential conflicts of interest and ensure compliance with legal restrictions.

The movement cites Article 4 of Law 3603/2007, which mandates that the disclosure of poll results must include the company name, the client's name, the purpose of the research, and other specific technical details.
