Maria Okrucińska wins junior women's world time trial title

Maria Okrucińska has become the junior women's world time trial champion at the World Championships in Montreal. The 18-year-old Polish rider, competing for the Grouwels-Watersley R&D Road Team, secured the title on a 10.7-kilometer course.

Okrucińska finished with a significant margin, beating Belgium's Yana Decruyenaere by 12 seconds. Great Britain's Aalia Clay took third place, finishing 24 seconds behind the winner. Switzerland's Anja Grossmann followed in fourth.

Okrucińska, who has won 12 races during her final junior season, expressed disbelief at her performance, noting that the victory had been her primary goal throughout the year. She cited the support of Polish cycling idols Kasia Niewiadoma and Michal Kwiatkowski as influential to her development.
