Maria Petrini Pistone celebrates centenary in Livorno

Maria Petrini Pistone is celebrating her centenary in Livorno. Born in Savona in 1926, she graduated from the Istituto Sacro Cuore and began her teaching career in Abruzzo after winning a competitive exam.

In 1958, she moved to Livorno with her husband, Raffaele Pistone. She became a prominent local figure, particularly in the Stazione neighborhood, where she was widely known and respected as ‘the Maestra’ for her pedagogical impact at the Fattori schools. In recognition of her life and career, Livorno Mayor Luca Salvetti has honored her with a floral tribute.
