Maria Sabina Galasso elected provincial secretary as Lega Irpinia exits commissariamento

The provincial congress of Lega Irpinia was held in Avellino at the De La Ville venue, ending a period of commissariamento overseen by Luigi Barone. Delegates unanimously elected Maria Sabina Galasso as the new provincial secretary, marking the party’s shift back to local leadership.

Ciro Aquino, mayor of Montefredane, was chosen as provincial president, and a slate of vice‑secretaries and departmental coordinators was appointed, including Fausto Acocella and Orsola De Stefano. Regional figures such as Gianpiero Zinzi and former Avellino mayor Gianluca Festa attended the meeting.

The new leadership pledged to address depopulation in internal areas, promote a unified Zona Economica Speciale (ZES) to attract investment, and focus on health, transport and school infrastructure, especially in the municipalities of Avellino and Ariano Irpino.
