Maria Sakkari donates to leukemia patient and drops in WTA rankings

Greek tennis player Maria Sakkari has made a quiet donation of 8,000 euros to support a young boy named Nikola, who is battling leukemia. The donation, revealed by the organization ‘Paidiki Chara’, was intended to cover the remaining funds needed for the child’s upcoming bone marrow transplant.

In professional sports news, Sakkari has seen a minor drop in the WTA rankings. Following her second-round exit in Cincinnati against Iga Swiatek, she has moved down one position to 33rd in the world rankings with 1,415 points. This comes ahead of the US Open, where her seeding status remains to be determined.
