Maria Sakkari reaches Singapore WTA 500 quarterfinals

Maria Sakkari has advanced to the quarterfinals of the WTA 500 tournament in Singapore after defeating Nao Hibino. The Greek player, ranked 33rd in the world, won the match in straight sets, 7-5, 6-1, in a contest lasting one hour and 26 minutes.

In the first set, Sakkari overcame a challenge from Hibino, managing nine aces and converting four of her 11 break opportunities to secure the set 7-5. Sakkari maintained her momentum in the second set, breaking early to lead 3-0 and eventually closing out the match.

Sakkari is scheduled to face Australian Talia Gibson in the quarterfinals. The winner of that match will proceed to face either Xinyu Wang or Tatiana Prozorova in the semifinals.
