Maria Teresa Giunta presents ‘Sommerso’ at Milazzo Antiquarium

The Antiquarium ‘Domenico Ryolo’ in Milazzo has hosted the final installment of the ‘Presente Singolare’ project. The initiative, titled ‘Un’opera, un(‘) artista, un mese al museo’, invites contemporary artists to engage with archaeological heritage.

For the concluding event, Milazzese painter Maria Teresa Giunta presented her work ‘Sommerso’. The impressionist painting was inspired by underwater archaeological finds in Milazzo, such as amphorae and columns, aiming to depict memory as a living environment rather than static objects.

The project, curated by Maria Pia Mistretta, is part of the broader ‘Il Sorriso degli Dei’ cultural program within the Tindari Archaeological Park. The series has successfully integrated contemporary art with historical artifacts, contributing to a significant increase in museum visits.
