Mariachi musicians achieve new milestones in Latin music

Mariachi music is seeing significant recognition through recent achievements by prominent artists. José Hernández, a fifth-generation musician and leader of Mariachi Sol de México, has received his 11th Latin Grammy nomination. The nomination is for the album ‘El Voz De Mi Trompeta (50 años)’, which features ten nearly instrumental tracks celebrating his five decades in the genre.

In a similar move toward traditional styles, regional Mexican star Julión Álvarez has released a new EP titled ‘Ranchero de Corazón’. Produced under his own label, Copar Music, the four-song project marks a departure from his usual norteño and banda styles to embrace traditional mariachi arrangements. Álvarez described the genre as ‘sacred’ to him, noting the project's personal significance.
