Mariam Battistelli appointed UNICEF Austria honorary ambassador

Opera singer Mariam Battistelli has been appointed as an honorary ambassador for UNICEF Austria. The internationally recognized soprano, who performs at venues such as the Vienna State Opera, will work to raise awareness for the rights and needs of children globally.

Battistelli intends to advocate for children affected by conflicts, crises, and the impacts of climate change. To launch her engagement, she released a social media video focusing on the situation in Ethiopia, highlighting families suffering from hunger, displacement, and climate-related emergencies. UNICEF Austria’s Managing Director, Christoph Jünger, stated that Battistelli’s international presence and ability to connect emotionally will help bring visibility to children in ‘forgotten crises’ that often lack international media attention.
