Marian religious commemorations and historical remembrances

September marks the commemoration of significant Marian advocations. The Virgen de la Caridad del Cobre, the patron saint of Cuba, is celebrated on September 8. Tradition holds that she appeared in the Caribbean Sea to three men known as 'los tres Juanes.' This devotion is widely recognized across the Americas and Spain. Additionally, the veneration of the Virgen de Regla, which dates back to the 4th century, is observed on September 7.

In Seville, Spain, the anniversary of the blessing of the current image of María Santísima de la Hiniesta is commemorated. The brotherhood faced significant hardships during the 1930s, including the loss of their religious images due to temple fires during the Second Republic and the Spanish Civil War. After losing their titles twice, the brotherhood commissioned a new image from sculptor Castillo Lastrucci in 1937 to rebuild their devotion.
