Mariana City Council approves R$ 105,000 for Festival de Cuscuz

The Mariana City Council has unanimously approved Bill No. 275/2026, authorizing the allocation of R$ 105,000 to the Corporação Musical Sagrado Coração de Jesus for the 22nd Festival de Cuscuz in the district of Padre Viegas.

The funds will be transferred in a single installment and must be used exclusively for activities outlined in the entity's work plan. The proposal received favorable reviews from the commissions of Finance, Legislation and Justice, and Education, Health, Social Assistance, Sport, Leisure, and Tourism, confirming it meets legal and budgetary requirements for public resource transfers.

Council members emphasized the festival's importance for the Padre Viegas community, noting its role in promoting local culture, gastronomy, and economic activity. The event, which has roots dating back to 2004, aims to celebrate a dish central to the district's culinary identity.
