Mariana Cortés Espinoza promotes Tamaulipas folk attire in Mexico and US
Mariana Cortés Espinoza, a graduate of the Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas (UAT), has established a successful business specializing in traditional Tamaulipas folk clothing. Her project, which grew from her personal experience as a dancer during the COVID-19 pandemic, focuses on the traditional 'campero' attire inspired by the 'cuera' used in huapango performances from southern Tamaulipas.
Her designs are characterized by the use of decorative patterns known as 'grecas' and traditional ornaments called 'barbas'. Supported by the UAT, which provided academic training and guidance for her brand registration, her business has expanded its reach. Her creations are now sold across various Mexican states, from Baja California to Quintana Roo, as well as in several locations throughout the United States.
