Mariana expands free weekend bus service to Vargem

The municipality of Mariana, Minas Gerais, has expanded its ‘Tarifa Zero’ program to include free public transportation on weekends. The new operation, which began on Saturday, provides free travel between the Vargem district and the municipal seat.

In addition to Vargem, the service also benefits residents of Serra do Carmo, Pombal, Palmital, and other nearby localities. The expansion aims to fulfill a commitment made by Mayor Juliano Duarte to improve mobility for these communities.

Fixed schedules have been established for the service. On Saturdays, buses depart from Vargem at 7:00 and return from the municipal seat at 15:30. On Sundays, buses depart from Mariana at 7:00, with the return trip from the district scheduled for 16:00.
