Mariana hosts major mountain bike and trail run competitions

Mariana, Brazil, is hosting significant sporting events, including the 6th stage of the Desafio BROU and the upcoming Uphill da Purificação.

The Desafio BROU recently concluded in Mariana, drawing over 1,000 athletes from 16 Brazilian states for mountain bike and trail run competitions. The event featured various distances, including a 19 km trail run and mountain bike courses ranging from 34.4 km to 53 km. Notable winners included local athlete Taís Arcanjo in the long trail run and José Gabriel Marquês de Almeida in the Elite mountain bike category.

Looking ahead, the Uphill da Purificação is scheduled for September 19 and 20. The race will start in Antônio Pereira and travel through the Estrada da Purificação toward Ouro Preto. In a solidarity initiative, athletes from Mariana can register for free by donating a toy to the local Sports Secretariat.
