Mariana Rodríguez signals intent to run for Nuevo León governorship

Mariana Rodríguez Cantú, head of the ‘Amar a Nuevo León’ office and wife of Governor Samuel García, has signaled her intention to seek the governorship of Nuevo León in the 2027 elections. Her comments follow a statement by García, who initially suggested that her current priority was the upcoming birth of their third daughter rather than a political candidacy.

Responding via social media, Rodríguez Cantú clarified that while she is currently focused on her pregnancy, she intends to engage with political processes by December. She also directed criticism toward the Morena party and the Mayor of Monterrey, Adrián de la Garza, regarding the respect of political timelines.

Governor García noted that Movimiento Ciudadano (MC) has not yet finalized its candidate for 2027 and maintains several potential profiles for the race, including Senator Luis Donaldo Colosio Riojas, various mayors, and business leaders.
