Merlo: Baby's body found in buried bag during utility work

Workers performing excavation for a light pole in Mariano Acosta, Merlo, discovered the body of a baby inside a buried bag. The discovery occurred in front of a residence and caused significant local commotion.

Authorities identified and detained the baby's parents following the find. During questioning, the mother reportedly admitted the infant was hers and claimed she had suffered a spontaneous abortion, leading her to bury the body in the bag. The couple was released a few hours later as investigators await further evidence.

A forensic autopsy has been ordered to determine the circumstances of the death. Investigators aim to establish whether the infant was born alive or died in utero, a distinction that will determine the specific criminal charges in the judicial case.
