Mariano Navone advances to US Open third round

Argentine tennis player Mariano Navone has advanced to the third round of the US Open following a victory over Italy’s Matteo Berrettini. In a match lasting over three hours, Navone overcame an initial set loss to win 3-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6(4).

This performance follows Navone’s significant upset of Novak Djokovic in the opening round, where he defeated the 24-time Grand Slam champion in five sets. Despite primarily being a clay-court specialist, the 25-year-old has shown increasing proficiency on hard courts. Navone is scheduled to face compatriot Tomás Etcheverry in the next round.
