Maribel Chuc Ayala appointed Secretary of Science in Yucatán

Yucatán Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena has announced the appointment of local deputy Maribel del Rosario Chuc Ayala as the new head of the Secretariat of Science, Humanities, Technology, and Innovation (Secihti). Chuc Ayala, a teacher and current Morena deputy for District XVI, is scheduled to assume her new role on November 1.

She succeeds Mirna Alejandra Manzanilla Romero, who is stepping down to pursue a municipal candidacy for the 2027 electoral process. This appointment marks the fifth cabinet change in Yucatán within a single month, as several officials transition to participate in upcoming political contests.

Other recent leadership shifts in the state administration include Aydé Verónica Interián Argüello, who will lead the Secretariat of Welfare, and Pastor Gerardo Contreras Avilés, who takes over the Secretariat of Sustainable Fisheries and Aquaculture.
