Maribel Guardia files homicide complaint against former daughter-in-law

Mexican actress Maribel Guardia has filed a formal complaint with the Mexico City Prosecutor's Office against her former daughter-in-law, Imelda Garza Tuñón. The legal action alleges crimes against health and potential homicide regarding the 2023 death of Guardia's son, singer Julián Figueroa.

The complaint follows statements made by Garza Tuñón on a podcast, where she admitted to deceiving a psychiatrist to obtain controlled medications, which she then provided to Figueroa. Guardia's attorney, Alonso Beceiro, stated that the investigation will look into the illicit acquisition of these substances and whether Garza Tuñón's failure to seek timely medical assistance during Figueroa's final moments constitutes criminal negligence or homicide.

Because Figueroa was cremated following his death from a myocardial infarction, a traditional autopsy is not possible. Meanwhile, reports indicate that Garza Tuñón has traveled to Houston, Texas, with her son, reportedly following legal advice from her defense team.
