Maribor City Council approves budget changes and sports funding

The Maribor City Council has approved several key municipal measures, including amendments to the 2026 budget, the 2027 annual sports program, and a new price list for the cleaning of public surfaces.

Following updates from the Ministry of Finance, the municipality will receive an additional 970,848 euros in revenue for 2026. These funds are primarily earmarked for increasing the general budget reserve, with portions allocated to sports facilities and outdoor sports areas to cover rising maintenance and management costs.

The approved 2027 sports program includes a budget of approximately 5.98 million euros. This allocation consists of 2.46 million euros for transfers to sports program providers and 3.52 million euros to ensure free use of public sports facilities and to co-finance sports surfaces at local primary schools.

Additionally, the council confirmed a new price list for the public service of arranging and cleaning paved public areas, managed by the company Snaga, to align with increased operational costs since the previous price list was established in 2024.
