Road safety incidents surge across Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro

In the past week Croatia recorded three wildlife‑related collisions on the Međimurje roads and two alcohol‑impaired crashes in the Koprivnica‑Križevci county, resulting in material damage and injuries to drivers. Serbian police in the Leskovac district reported that 25,881 drivers were fined for speeding and more than 5,000 for other violations, while a separate incident in Vranje saw a sanitary‑service driver seriously injured after a truck struck him during a vehicle malfunction; a doctor completed the patient’s transport to Niš. Montenegro’s Ministry of Interior logged 146 traffic accidents over seven days, including one fatality, 18 serious injuries and 55 minor injuries, as part of its “Live, don’t rush” safety campaign.

These events highlight ongoing traffic safety challenges in the Balkans, with authorities urging drivers to observe speed limits, avoid alcohol, watch for wildlife and adhere to road‑signs to reduce accidents and protect lives.
