Maribor Financial Office considers ban on Tezno fair
The Maribor Financial Office is considering a ban on the Tezno fair due to escalating violations of excise tax laws and tobacco regulations. Marko Horvat, director of the Maribor Financial Office, reported that recent inspections in July resulted in the seizure of 14,400 cigarettes.
Authorities noted that despite frequent controls and sanctions, illegal cigarette sales are continuing and even intensifying. Horvat expressed particular concern regarding reports that violators are involving minors in the black market sale of tobacco products.
In response to the situation, the fair organizer has stated that security personnel with expanded powers will soon be present at the event. While land owners continue to receive official notices, police have not reported any significant security incidents.
