Maribor hosts Bart Lunenburg exhibition on textile heritage

The UGM Kabinet is hosting a new exhibition titled ‘Okno se zapira, niti se sučejo, stol pada’, the first solo exhibition in Maribor by Dutch multidisciplinary artist Bart Lunenburg. The project explores the textile heritage of Maribor, examining how the city’s former textile industry shaped its urban identity and collective memory.

Lunenburg’s research connects the architectural patterns of Jože Plečnik with the industrial history of the region. By treating the city as a form of ‘clothing’, the artist uses archival research and material experimentation to investigate how gendered production and industrial memory are woven into the architectural fabric of the city.
