Maribor to expand stationary speed camera network
The Municipality of Maribor will begin installing three additional enclosures for stationary speed measurement next week. This expansion will bring the total number of enclosures to six across the city.
Two speed meters will be used to conduct measurements across these six locations, with the devices being moved between enclosures. The specific locations for the new enclosures, determined by a professional study from the University of Maribor’s Faculty of Civil, Geodetic and Environmental Engineering, are:
• Krekova Street, near the pedestrian crossing at Hero Tomšič Street • Kopitarjeva Street, at the intersection with Dominkuševa Street • Lackova Road, at the intersection with Studenška Street
The municipality has signed a contract with Intermatic d. o. o. for the project, valued at approximately 65,000 euros excluding VAT. This includes the purchase of six enclosures and a one-year lease for two speed meters. The expansion aims to calm traffic and improve road safety based on data regarding traffic volume, proximity to schools, and accident history. The public will be notified before measurements officially commence.
