Maricá begins solar panel installation for relocated families

The Maricá municipal government has launched the ‘O Sol Nasce para Todos’ program, which involves installing solar panels in the homes of families relocated through municipal resettlement programs. The first phase of the initiative has covered 16 houses in a Pindobas condominium, specifically targeting residents who previously lived in high-risk areas.

Coordinated by the Secretariat of Renewable Energies and Public Lighting, the project has already expanded to Espraiado and is scheduled to continue in Itaipuaçu. The municipality aims to provide solar energy access to 8,000 families. The program includes technical assessments of each household's energy consumption to ensure the systems are properly sized for appliances such as refrigerators and water pumps.

Verônica Costa, the Secretary of Renewable Energies and Public Lighting, stated that the initiative is intended to improve quality of life by reducing electricity costs, allowing families to redirect savings toward essential needs like food, health, and education.
