Maricá Civil Defense launches free aquatic safety and sports project

The Maricá Civil Defense has launched the EcoMar Project, a free initiative providing aquatic safety training and water sports instruction to residents. The program recently held its inaugural class at the Ponta Negra hub, following the close of registration. Activities are also conducted in Barra de Maricá and Itaipuaçu.

The project is structured by age group: morning sessions focus on adaptation and prevention for children and youth, while afternoon sessions for adults emphasize physical conditioning and rescue techniques. The curriculum is divided into four main pillars: surfing and bodyboarding (using boards as rescue tools), open-sea swimming (focusing on breathing and wave adaptation), coastal pedestrianism (combining sand running with rapid water entry), and aquatic lifesaving (including rescue simulations and towing techniques).
