Maricá initiates aeronautical hub development with new professional hires
The city of Maricá is advancing its goal to become an aeronautical hub through a partnership with the Aeronautical Development Company (Desaer). A group of 40 professionals, including engineers and architects, has been hired to work on development projects within the sector.
Many of the hired individuals are students or alumni of the ‘Passaporte Universitário’ program, a municipal initiative providing full higher education scholarships. The professionals will operate through cooperatives, a model intended to organize workers and expand access to opportunities within the industry.
Mayor Washington Quaquá stated that this hiring represents an initial step toward transforming the city into a technological center, similar to the model of São José dos Campos and Embraer. The broader strategy includes training pilots and mechanics, expanding the Maricá Airport infrastructure, and conducting studies for new aerial connections to diversify the local economy.
