Maricá school contract under investigation for potential overpricing
The Court of Accounts of the State of Rio de Janeiro (TCE-RJ) has identified potential irregularities in an R$ 81.1 million contract signed by the Maricá City Hall for the supply of modular school units.
In a monocratic decision, substitute counselor Christiano Lacerda Ghuerren ordered the municipality to refrain from extending the contract with Consórcio Firenze until a definitive judgment is reached. The investigation focuses on risks of overpricing, a lack of objective evidence regarding economic advantages, and potential flaws in the procurement model.
Technical analysis revealed that the price registration minute used for the contract was previously annulled by COMGRANBEL following irregularities identified by the Court of Accounts of Minas Gerais. While the annulment occurred after Maricá signed its contract, the TCE-RJ is demanding explanations regarding the legality and economic efficiency of the agreement.
