Marie-Noëlle Denembaye wins two bronze medals at Nanbudo World Championships
Chadian athlete Marie-Noëlle Denembaye won two bronze medals at the 2026 Nanbudo World Championships held in Yaoundé, Cameroon. The event, which took place from October 1 to 5, 2026, marked the first time this global competition was hosted on African soil.
The 8th edition of the championship brought together hundreds of athletes and delegates from dozens of nations across Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Denembaye’s achievement highlights the growing presence of Chadian Nanbudo on the international stage.
Nanbudo is a martial art derived from karate, established in 1978 by Japanese master Yoshinao Nanbu. The discipline emphasizes defensive techniques and evasion over direct confrontation, organized into three branches: Budoho (combat), Kidoho (health), and Noryokukaihatsuho (personal development).
