Marie-Paule Belle funeral set for Aug 3; Serge Lama cites health for absence

French chanteuse Marie‑Paule Belle died on 25 July at age 80 after a recurrence of cancer. A funeral service will be held on Monday 3 August at 10:30 am in the Chapel of the Virgin at Église Saint‑Roch in Paris, followed by cremation at the Père‑Lachaise Cemetery.

Her longtime friend and fellow singer Serge Lama, now 83, announced he will not attend, stating "I can no longer travel" and that he has already attended many funerals of loved ones. He expressed his grief on Instagram, writing “C’est une sœur que je perds”.
