Marieke Lubbers crowned new Jamkoningin in Neede

Marieke Lubbers has been crowned the new Jamkoningin (Jam Queen) of the Nationale Jammarkt in Neede. The 40-year-old from Noordijk was officially presented during the opening of the jam market on Wednesday by chairman Ronnie Konniger.

The announcement featured a surprise element, as Lubbers' brother, singer Tommy Markerink, performed the new Needse Jamlied (Jam Song) without knowing his sister had been selected for the title. Lubbers expressed her enthusiasm for the role, stating she looks forward to a year of promoting the traditions of conviviality and community spirit associated with the market.

The Nationale Jammarkt has been held in Neede since 1991, serving as a gathering for enthusiasts of jam, chutney, marmalade, and preserves.
