Mariel Padilla has issued a clarification regarding a 2022 vlog in which she claimed her husband, Senator Robin Padilla, had been involved in the passage of a law while he was incarcerated. The remarks resurfaced online following criticism regarding the Senator's legislative qualifications and educational background.

Clarifying her previous statements, Mariel Padilla stated that she did not mean the Senator literally authored or voted on legislation while in prison. Instead, she explained that his personal legal case served as a "case study" for the enactment of Republic Act No. 8294, which amended laws concerning the illegal possession of firearms. She noted that his experience demonstrated how legislative changes directly impact individuals.

The original video also included claims regarding the Senator's criminology degree and his roles within the Philippine Army. Legal professionals and social media users have flagged the original claim about him "passing a law" in prison as false, noting that the legislation was enacted in 1997 before his term in the Senate.
