Napoli President De Laurentiis announces new stadium and training center plans

Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis has announced major infrastructure plans for SSC Napoli, including the demolition of the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona to make way for a new 70,000-seat arena. The proposed stadium, located in East Naples on a 38-hectare site identified through a letter of intent with Q8, would feature 120 sky boxes, restaurants, and an interactive museum. De Laurentiis criticized the current stadium's management and costs, rejecting local proposals to simply renovate the existing facility.

Additionally, De Laurentiis revealed plans for a new training center in Qualiano. The project involves 17.5 hectares of land intended to house ten football pitches and 7,500 square meters of offices and locker rooms for both the first team and the youth sector. While the president presented these developments with optimism, reports indicate that negotiations for the Qualiano site face challenges due to economic disagreements with landowners.

During a recent awards ceremony in Rome, where he received a Career Sporting Award from the Foreign Press Association in Italy, De Laurentiis also addressed club management. He asserted that head coaches are employees and collaborators rather than independent directors, a comment seen as a reflection on his relationship with former manager Luciano Spalletti.
