Marigliano: Former Mayor Antonio Carpino begins prison sentence
Former Marigliano mayor Antonio Carpino has surrendered to prison to serve a definitive sentence of 5 years and 4 months for political-mafia electoral exchange. The conviction, made irrevocable by the Court of Cassation, follows an investigation by the Naples District Anti-Mafia Directorate into the 2015 administrative elections.
Investigators reconstructed a network of illicit relationships between Carpino and criminal elements in the Pontecitra district. The scheme allegedly involved exchanging electoral support for money, economic interests, and employment promises.
