Marija Milošević recounts life-altering Sahara accident

Marija Milošević, a resident of Smederevo, recounts how a 2014 vacation in Tunisia resulted in life-altering injuries. While on an excursion to the Sahara with her husband, the jeep they were traveling in overturned after the driver attempted to avoid a car parked in the middle of a main road.

The accident caused Milošević to suffer fractures in her third and fourth cervical vertebrae, resulting in permanent quadriplegia. She remained immobile from the neck down and spent several months on a respirator due to complications with her lungs, which affected her ability to swallow and speak. Her husband also sustained multiple fractures to his arm during the incident. Following initial treatment in Tunisia, she was transferred to the Military Medical Academy (VMA) for extended care.
