Marija Zogović summits Ama Dablam after overcoming addiction
Marija Zogović has become the first person from Montenegro to summit Ama Dablam, a peak in the Himalayas standing at 6,812 meters.
Zogović, 44, shared her journey of overcoming a decade-long struggle with drug addiction through mountaineering. She described how her use of substances began at age 15 during a period of post-war instability, driven by a teenage desire for belonging and happiness. Now an economics graduate, she uses her experiences to inspire others facing similar hardships while climbing peaks across Montenegro, Europe, and the world.
