Marijampolė installs new columbariums at local cemetery

New columbariums have been installed at the New Cemetery on Tylioji Street in Marijampolė, Lithuania. The installation includes four double-sided columbariums, providing a total of 192 niches. Each niche can hold up to four urns, allowing family members to be interred in the same location.

The project aims to provide residents with more options for memorializing loved ones, particularly for those who may find it difficult to maintain traditional graves due to age, health, or distance. While the physical installation is complete, minor aesthetic landscaping is ongoing.

To use the service, residents must first enter a contract with the provider and then apply to the Marijampolė City Eldership for permission. Final pricing for the niches is currently being determined based on infrastructure costs and market rates.
