Igor Dodik pledges employment for student dismissed over social media posts

Marijana Močević, a student at the Faculty of Security Sciences in Banja Luka and the daughter of a deceased Republika Srpska Army fighter, was dismissed from her position as an accountant at a company in Ilidža, Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The employer cited a “serious breach of work obligations” related to inciting national, racial, or religious hatred.

The dismissal followed Močević’s social media posts featuring the Serbian flag, the šajkača cap, and symbols related to the Yugoslav Army in the Homeland and General Dragoljub Mihailović. Močević reported that she faced insults toward her late father and death threats from former colleagues following the disciplinary proceedings.

Igor Dodik, the organizational secretary of the SNSD, addressed the case, stating that Močević should not have to hide her identity or heritage. He characterized the incident as part of a broader attempt to strip young Serbs of their identity. Dodik has personally pledged to ensure she finds employment within Republika Srpska.
