Marijana Puljak demands resignation of Prefect Boban over Omiš fire management

Marijana Puljak, a Member of Parliament from the Centar party, has called for the resignation of Split-Dalmatia County Prefect Blaženko Boban following the management of fires in the Omiš area. Puljak criticized the failure to activate the Early Warning and Crisis Management System (SRUUK) during the Omiš fires.

She contrasted this with a recent fire near Primošten, where the SRUUK system was successfully activated, providing residents and tourists with timely, multilingual warnings. Puljak argued that the system, which cost Croatia over eight million euros, was not utilized in Omiš because the County failed to submit a request to the 112 emergency center.

While Prefect Boban suggested that activating the system would have caused panic and blocked roads, and Prime Minister Andrej Plenković stated the events unfolded too quickly, Puljak maintained that the lack of communication was a failure in crisis management. She has urged Plenković to demand Boban’s resignation if the Prefect does not step down voluntarily.
