Marika Gombitová celebrates 70th birthday and announces concert tour

Slovak music icon Marika Gombitová is celebrating her 70th birthday. A defining voice of the Czechoslovak music scene, she rose to prominence in the 1970s as a member of the band Modus and through solo successes at the Bratislava Lýra festival with hits such as ‘Študentská láska’ and ‘Vyznanie’.

Her career was tragically altered on November 30, 1980, following a severe car accident while traveling from a concert in Brno, which left her using a wheelchair. Despite this, she has continued to compose and perform, maintaining a massive following across Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

To mark her jubilee and 50 years on stage, Gombitová has announced a series of upcoming concerts. The tour includes performances in Prešov on September 26, Prague on October 10, and Bratislava on November 7. The Prague show at the O2 Arena follows her successful sold-out appearances in 2024.
